Malina Mayer
Malina Mayer (1993*) is a photographer and sociologist – mostly oscillating between these two spheres. She is based between Lisbon, Portugal and the rural region of Münster in North-Western Germany.

The dream-like and often eerie aesthetics of her photographs play with what eludes our consciousness. Drawing from (auto-) ethnographic methods, her long-term projects reflect upon the relation between memory and identity. Her work is inspired by nature and her solitary walks – preferably at night. She predominantly works and experiments with analogue techniques continuously aiming to find new ways to tell her and her subjects’ stories.

She completed her studies in Sociology, Politics and Economics (B.A.) at Zeppelin Universität, Friedrichshafen before further pursuing a degree in Photography and Urban Cultures (M.A.) at Goldsmiths College, University of London.
